Return to Nimes

This year should be called the Year of the Holiday. Or Places We Returned. In July we went to spend some days with M and Mme and the granddaughters on their annual holiday near Nimes, a town where we had holidayed with dear friends for several bygone years. Lovely sunny weather, always welcome apart from the mozzies. Italian relatives of Mme to do the cooking and washing up! So no complaints there.

Isle of Man

Once upon a time, about 50 years ago, I lived in the Isle of Man where my father was the vicar of Foxdale. This year we went back, and stayed right next to the house, once the Vicarage. All the places I loved, glens, hills, seaside towns were just as lovely, although some places including the capital have lost their charm for me. It was super to go back, and might be a handy place for us seniors to holiday in the future.

People you may know

With Dave and Lae at Croft Castle, Norman and Linda aboard their canal boat and amongst the bluebells in spring. A bluebell walk is something every English person should do once a year. Now I'm up-to-date.

Catch up time

Such a long time since I last wrote anything here that I'm going to post some representative photos of the months since Italy.
The first one is of Aberaeron where we spent a week in November, with its Tobermory-type houses, and the one underneath is of Cork city and the flats where the older Irish 'grandchildren' live.

Treviso

After Venice we spent a day in Treviso which we really recommend. Probably many only make it to the airport but the town with its waterways and public sculpture is delightful.

Even some Buddhist monks thought so!
