Winter is still here. How ever do the birds and plants manage. It must be a shock to any hibernators to find that their world is no warmer or sunnier. These photos were taken a while back and the snowdrops are now fading away, but I don't feel very tempted to go out and garden. If it doesn't rain when I've finished this I may venture out to do some pruning.
Life here is a bit stressy. We have begun to redecorate the dining room, always a risky area for our relationship. We did quite a good job of making a quick decision about the curtain material - our starting point- but ever since have had terrible trouble actually buying it. The  first store said, oh you can't make curtains out of that, the pattern repeat wouldn't work. So phone call to the pub where we'd seen them hanging (yes that does sound rather awful, how common, curtains matching those in a bar) and asked how they'd got them made. Oh Liz so-and-so made them. So phone call to Liz who said the shop's comment was nonsense and she'd make them. So off to buy the material again from the same shop, but they didn't have enough. Online searches and calls to other stores didn't provide a solution, but now HoF has gone to Shrewsbury to buy it and hopefully will return with the required 11 metres. The next problem will be agreeing about paint. We did buy a light unit in the abortive material run, but when we got it home, one of the shades was broken, so hopefully today's trip will yield another.
The other stress is putting on a production of John's Gospel tomorrow evening. It's a script-in-hand affair but with stage and lighting and the more time we've had to think about it the more ambitious and then stressful it becomes. If you pray, we could do with your thoughts on Thursday.
