Photobook

Our present for Swiss Son's 40th birthday was a photobook which had been months in the making, wading through albums, scanning, selecting, designing. It only just arrived in time. Here he is enjoying it whilst trying to keep sticky fingers at bay.

Swiss No1 granddaughter enjoyed it too.

Maroulas

Crete

We hired a scooter in Crete. We were probably the only ones wearing crash helmets, as although it is law, only the tourists get stopped. But so nice not to have to wear heavy motorbike gear. We went in the cool of the evening (comparatively) to a village called Maroulas, and stopped at a taverna for a drink, and photo with the hairy proprietor.

Teeth, teeth

The thing I missed most in Africa....................was my electric toothbrush.  But I went to the dentist recently (she's young, pretty and eastern European) and heard her as she counted round my teeth, comment 'toothbrush abrasion.' I asked her about it, she didn't know when it happened, but it could well be that I was scrubbing with the electric brush instead of letting it do the work itself. Now I have to concentrate NOT to brush my teeth.

Wild life

This weekend we were part of an Open Gardens event in the village. Over two days we had about a hundred visitors. On Sunday afternoon, someone reported a wounded young hedgehog, covered in flies and maggots, in the furthest corner. Panic! I moved him to a safe spot but didn't know what to do. Phone call from someone further down the street (great grapevine) offering telephone numbers for a hedgehog rescue man and the vet. Neither available. More panic.
Looked on the internet and found a Hedgehog Rescue service quite nearby. The man arrived, picked up Master Hedgehog, said he was only two weeks old and that mother and more babies must be nearby. he poked around in the dead grass stack, and there they were! Hissing sleepily at him. He debated putting junior back but thought he might be rejected, so took him away to be bottle fed. Relief
He also said I should feed Mrs and family on cat food. But how do I stop the stray cat from eating it?
