This weekend we were part of an Open Gardens event in the village. Over two days we had about a hundred visitors. On Sunday afternoon, someone reported a wounded young hedgehog, covered in flies and maggots, in the furthest corner. Panic! I moved him to a safe spot but didn't know what to do. Phone call from someone further down the street (great grapevine) offering telephone numbers for a hedgehog rescue man and the vet. Neither available. More panic.
Looked on the internet and found a Hedgehog Rescue service quite nearby. The man arrived, picked up Master Hedgehog, said he was only two weeks old and that mother and more babies must be nearby. he poked around in the dead grass stack, and there they were! Hissing sleepily at him. He debated putting junior back but thought he might be rejected, so took him away to be bottle fed. Relief
He also said I should feed Mrs and family on cat food. But how do I stop the stray cat from eating it?
